Waitress confirms Katharine McPhee’s final performance as Jenna will be 15 June

Audiences have ten weeks to catch the critically-acclaimed Katharine McPhee in the West End production of Waitress. The Smashand Scorpion actress will play her final performance on Saturday 15 June with new casting for the role of Jenna to be announced soon. The Tony-nominated musical by Sara Bareilles began performances at the Adelphi Theatre on 8 February and is now booking to Saturday 19 October.

London’s brand-new smash hit musical comedy Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams her way out of a loveless marriage. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.

Brought to life by a ground breaking, female-led creative team, the hit show features an original score by 7-time Grammy® nomineeSara Bareilles (Love Song, Brave), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland) and choreography by Lorin Latarro. The production is currently touring the US and has also announced it will have its Australian premiere in 2020 at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.

Since finding international fame as a captivating singer on American Idol – Season 5Katharine McPhee (Jenna) has become a successful recording artist, landing numerous songs and albums on Billboard’s pop, jazz, holiday and adult-contemporary charts in her native US. Her latest album of timeless American standards “I Fall In Love Too Easily” was released by BMG in 2017. As an acclaimed actress, she was the breakout star of the 2013 NBC-TV musical series Smash, Executive Produced by Steven Spielberg with music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray). She recently starred in the hit CBS dramatic series Scorpion.

The hosts of the first ever Waitress London Cast Album Karaoke Night have been announced today. Smash star Katharine McPhee, who plays Jenna in the West End production, will host the post-show event alongside Denise Van Outen on Tuesday 19 February. Audience members can sign up before the show for the chance to sing one minute of any song from Waitress – live on stage at the Adelphi and accompanied by the show’s musical director Katharine Woolley.

Further details, including the host, for the next Cast Album Karaoke night on Monday 18 March will be announced next month.

It has also recently been announced that due to popular demand Waitress has extended its booking period to 19 October. Preview performances for the Tony-nominated musical bySara Bareilles began on 8 February ahead of the show’s official opening night on 7 March. A limited number of day seats are now available to purchase in person from the theatre box office for £25 (from 10am, Mon-Weds performances only, subject to availability and at the box office’s discretion).

Theatre lovers who have always dreamt of singing on the West End stage will soon be able to make their dream a reality. The first ever “Cast Album Karaoke” nights will be held post-show on Tuesday 19 February and Monday 18 March 2019 at the London production of Sara Bareilles’ Waitress. For the chance to sing one minute of any song from the show – live on stage and accompanied by the show’s musical director Katharine Woolley – interested audience members just need to# sign up in the theatre before the performance.
