Jeremy Herrin, Headlong’s Artistic Director is directing D C Moore’s dark and funny new play, Common, an epic tale of unsavoury action and England’s lost land with Anne-Marie Duff as Mary and Cush Jumbo as Laura.
Mary’s the best liar, rogue, thief and faker in this whole septic isle. And she’s back.
As the factory smoke of the industrial revolution belches out from the cities, Mary is swept up in the battle of her former home. The common land, belonging to all, is disappearing.
Speaking about the play Jeremy Herrin said “I think Common is a remarkably ambitious play and fitting for Headlong’s latest collaboration with the National Theatre. It is a theatrically playful work, funny and alive, full of incredibly visceral language. It speaks about a time long ago but also how we live now and who owns the land.”
