About Samantha Ellis – Writer

Samantha Ellis is a playwright, journalist and writer. Her plays include the acclaimed Cling to Me Like Ivy (Birmingham Rep and on tour), Operation Magic Carpet (Polka Theatre), Starlore for Beginners and Other Plays (Theatre 503) and The Thousand and Second Night (LAMDA). She is a founding member of women’s theatre company Agent 160. Her first non-fiction book, How to be a Heroine, was published to great acclaim in 2014. Her second, Take Courage, will be published in 2017. As a journalist, she’s written for publications including The GuardianThe ObserverIntelligent LifeExeuntThe Pool and the TLS.  How to Date a Feminist will be published by Nick Hern Books.
