About Matthew Lloyd – Director and Producer
Matthew is an award-winning freelance theatre director whose credits include the Olivier-nominated Duet for One with Juliet Stevenson (Almeida Theatre & West End) and the multi-award-winning The Fastest Clock in the Universe with Jude Law (Hampstead Theatre). He was formerly Joint Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and Associate Director of Hampstead Theatre. His work spans new plays, classics, verbatim theatre and site specific performance. His most recent work includes The Line by Timberlake Wertenbaker (Arcola Theatre), The Good Soldier and The Welsh Boy, both by Julian Mitchell (Ustinov Studio, Bath) and The Pilgrimage Project and Listen, We’re Family, two self-created verbatim shows at Wiltons Music Hall. His freelance credits include work at the Bush Theatre, Royal Court, Parco Theatre in Tokyo, Glasgow Citizens, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Liverpool Everyman, Coventry Belgrade and Scottish Opera.
